Mike M. brings an extraordinary 21 years of teaching experience and senior academic leadership to our team as a member of the Core Leadership Team at Laurel Park. Tutoring GCSE Sciences, A-Level Biology, KS3 Science and GCSE Geography, Mike knows exactly how to guide students to stellar academic heights while keeping his online lessons highly interactive, relatable and tailored to each individual. Rather than relying on dry textbook definitions, he brings complex theories to life using current events, everyday scenarios, practical problem solving, and a dash of friendly competition through quizzes and games. Mike is passionate about helping students manage academic stress by breaking intimidating topics down into small, achievable steps, encouraging positive routines, and maintaining a calm, supportive environment where mistakes are simply seen as a natural part of the learning journey. This approach highlights his proudest tutoring moment, where he helped a Year 10 student go from completely lacking confidence in science to proudly and independently tackling complex scientific problems on their own. When he isn’t teaching, Mike loves football, music and quality family time, and he has a fantastic musical claim to fame: he used to DJ and currently hosts his own radio show.

A qualified teacher with more than 21 years of classroom and leadership experience, Mike also leads SmartX’s small-group A-Level Biology sessions, bringing the same practical, current-events-led approach to a small class working towards the same exam.
