No two students are the same – each will have a unique way of thinking, approaching problems, showing their working, and expressing ideas in writing.
So, our SmartX Tutors are trained to do just that!
There are 4 primary ways of learning:
Visual Learners are better at absorbing information through charts, diagrams, maps and graphs which enables them to make connections and understand more complex ideas more clearly. A way our tutors help students who learn better visually is through flowcharts when explaining a scientific process such as describing the Calvin Cycle through a flowchart and using a step-wise approach to construct a perfect 6-mark answer!
Auditory Learners learn most effectively through listening, discussion, and verbal explanation. For these students, our tutors use strategies such as mini-“teach back” activities (where the student explains the topic back to the tutor) and memory prompts to strengthen understanding and recall.
Read and Write Learners do really well when interacting with texts, notes and written summaries. Our approach would include teaching them active revision methods – such as creating concise summary notes, rewriting model exam answers making sure to include keywords to ensure marks and develop clarity and accuracy whilst writing.
Finally, kinesthetic learners best retain information through movement and practical examples. Tutors can incorporate interactive activities, physical analogies, and step-based breakdowns of exam tasks to keep learning dynamic and engaging.
